Title: The Story of "Jeremy And Tim"

As a pre-teen in the late 1980’s, the "Jeremy And Tim" comic strip was born from a class assignment. The strip centered around a 9-ish-year-old boy ("Jeremy"), and a semi-imaginary lamb ("Tim").

A series of fortunate circumstances (that are far too detailed to explain here) and a bit of dumb luck led to "Jeremy And Tim" being published in local newspapers from about 1989 to 1998.

The first comic "strips" were actually panels that would occasionally be printed in the "features" section and tout the comic as the work of a local elementary student.

But as time went on, the "Jeremy And Tim" comic strip found a vocal fan base who wrote in to the newspapers.

The artist, Jeremy Burt (in his early teens at the time) would occasionally have either his mother or father wake him with a newspaper in their hands and pride beeming from their face as they would relay that another reader had commented on "Jeremy And Tim".

In the early 1990's "Jeremy And Tim" was given a dedicated space in the newspaper and was published weekly in what was first called the "18 and Under" page, and then later called the MiniMo.

This began what would become the regular generation of hundreds of "Jeremy And Tim" comic strips that featured Jeremy and Tim going on all sorts of adventures, both real and imaginary.

When the artist was in 9th grade, there was a feature written about him that focused on the comic strip. For the next few years, there would be hundreds of the "Jeremy And Tim" comic strips that would continue to entertain the Mid-Missouri readership of the Newspaper, until Jeremy Burt went off to college.

It was then that "Jeremy And Tim" took a long break - almost 10 years - as the artist went on to graduate college with a Commercial Art degree, become a husband, a father, and a small business owner.

He spent most of his time focusing on his career, but never forgot about the comic strips. He would occasionally tell his wife “I’m going to get back into the comics someday, you know...” She would always smile and nod and say “I know.”

Then, for reasons that Jeremy still can't explain, in late April of 2009, he decided to purchase this web domain, pull out his old drawing supplies, and begin the process of re-defining the "Jeremy And Tim" comic strip for a new generation of potential readers.

But in the almost 10 years since the last "Jeremy And Tim" comic strip had been published, quite a bit had changed.

...And so had Jeremy's resources and abilities.

Using new technologies, Jeremy was able to bring new life to the old characters by re-creating them with pixel-perfect precision as vectorized art files.

Suddenly, there was a whole new world for Jeremy and Tim to explore.

So, over the summer of 2009, Jeremy Burt devoted his free time to creating new "Jeremy And Tim" comic strips for the first time since 1999. As he would finish them, he would occasionally send them out to friends and family who were thrilled to see a new, polished version of what many of them had enjoyed all those years before.

In September of 2009, Jeremy Burt gathered a collection of the new "Jeremy And Tim" comic strips and entered them in Amazon.com's international "Comic Strip Superstar" contest. The contest allowed up to 5,000 submissions, and offered a printing deal to the winner, who would be selected using a combination of periodic reviews, and an eventual public vote of the top-ten finalists. To his surprise, toward the end of September, Jeremy received an email telling him that the "Jeremy And Tim" feature had been selected as one of the top 5% of the 5,000 who were allowed to enter the contest.

"Jeremy And Tim" did not advance to the final round of the competition, but somewhere during the course of the contest Jeremy began to realize that he wanted the comics to become more than a passing interest, and much more than an ongoing hobby. After being recognized as an international quarterfinalist, he began to make contacts with individuals in the industry that spurred him on to continue the strip and even seek self-publication!

In early October of 2009, one of the local newspapers contacted Jeremy Burt about writing an article on the story of how "Jeremy And Tim" had re-emerged after 10 years, and its rise to inter-national competition.

The story ended up on the front cover of their Sunday newspaper, and became one of their most-viewed online articles. This was amazing enough, but then a week later the Associated Press picked up the story and soon there were hundreds of nation-wide news organizations that were running the story of the "Jeremy And Tim" comic strips!

Every day through the end of that October, it seemed that another news entitiy had added the story to their site or re-run the article in their newspaper. From Florida to Alaska, the story of "Jeremy And Tim" and its "re-birth" was read by thousands of viewers.

Needless to say - that sort of attention generated a lot of interest from entirely new groups of fans.

The "Jeremy And Tim" social networks grew in numbers and interactivity and the artist was contacted by many people who wanted to praise his work and accomplishments. Additionally, he was approached by other organizations to include information about the comic strip on their website or publication.

In mid-November there was a follow-up article featuring the "Jeremy And Tim" comic strips. This article focused on the background of the comic strip's history and gave a more in-depth look of the characters and what Jeremy Burt has planned for the future of "Jeremy And Tim".

Currently, Jeremy Burt is enjoying his 15 minutes of "fame" and seeking any and all newspapers or websites that are interested in publishing the "Jeremy And Tim" comic strips.
