Jeremy Burt, the
artist behind "Jeremy And Tim",
lives in an average collge town in the middle of "fly-over" country with his
wife and little girl. They are extremely happy with their lives
and thank God everyday for the blessings they've been given.
He was raised by a child-care provider and a preacher, and had a very normal
mid-west upbringing. He spent all of his grade school years
(K-12) in the same town, and created a lot of close friendships with other children from school and church.
Jeremy started drawing "Jeremy And Tim" when he was 9 years old.
As you may have guessed, the "Jeremy" character was a sort of
self-portrait when he began. The "Tim" character was actually the result of animal toy that his younger brother had in this room when he created the strip.
Inspired by artists like Johnny Hart, Jim Davis,
and Bill Watterson, Jeremy refined his characters over the years as his life-experiences
and talent changed over the years. |

Once the "Jeremy And Tim" comic strips started being printed in the local
newspaper, comic strips became a regular part of Jeremy Burt's
weekly routine. For almost 10 years he met a weekly deadline,
generating a new "Jeremy And Tim" comic strip that would be edited, approved,
and printed.
Toward
the end of his high school career, Jeremy began to take an
interest in the computer graphics courses being ofered at
the local career center. He spent a lot of time learning
the basics of the graphics and animation programs before
going on to college, where
he earned a bachelor's degree in commercial art with an emphasis in graphic
design, and a minor in marketing.
Over the 10 years following his graduation, he married the girl he dated
through college, and the two of them had a little girl (who consumes all of their love and pride these days). A lot of his time during these years, though, was spent focused on his career and building
his small graphic design and web design business. |
Although
Jeremy enjoyed his work and was grateful for the talent-oriented positions with which God had blessed him and his famnily,
he always felt a quiet "pull" to return to his comic strips.
He would occasionally tell his friends and family that he
was going to "get back into the comics," to which they would
ussually give an obligatory smile as they nodded agreeingly.
But in May of 2009, Jeremy was
inspired to delve back into the world of "Jeremy
And Tim",
adding the skills that he had developed and the new resources
he had acquired over the years. Initially using the old comic strips from
his childhood, he began to "render" the characters and panels
in an illustration program on his computer. He now
uses a combination of hand-drawn line art and vectored computer-aided
illustrations to create the clean, finished look of today's "Jeremy
And Tim".
Jeremy is thrilled about what the future now holds for his family and the
world of the "Jeremy And Tim" comic strips. |
